At just 29 years old, Ashton Marcum has already built a strong reputation as a dedicated and forward-thinking leader in the sports and entertainment retail industry. As the General Manager of Retail at Nissan Stadium for Fanatics, she is responsible for leading complex retail operations while ensuring fans enjoy an outstanding shopping experience during every event. Originally from Owenton, Kentucky, Ashton has combined her passion for leadership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement to create a career built on innovation, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.

At EliteX, we are proud to have Ashton Marcum as part of the edition: The 5 Most Impactful General Managers Driving Business Excellence in 2026.

Ashton’s professional journey began immediately after graduating from college when she joined Legends as a Merchandise Coordinator at AT&T Stadium. Those early years played an important role in shaping her leadership philosophy. Working under Director of Retail Don Doolin, Ashton learned that successful leadership is about much more than managing daily operations. It is about developing people, solving problems, and finding better ways to improve every process. The mentorship she received inspired her to pursue leadership and continues to influence the way she leads her teams today.

“The best fan experience is built through teamwork, preparation, and continuous improvement.”

Today, Ashton oversees all retail operations at Nissan Stadium, one of the busiest sports and entertainment venues in the United States. Her responsibilities extend across every aspect of retail management, including the year-round team store, warehouse operations, inventory management, merchandising, staffing, and retail execution across twelve additional event locations during Tennessee Titans games and major concerts. She also manages operational planning, hiring, employee development, RFID implementation, and serves as the primary retail liaison between Fanatics and the Tennessee Titans organization for both football and non-football events.

Managing such a large operation comes with its own challenges. Every event brings different attendance numbers, staffing requirements, inventory demands, and operational timelines. Ashton understands that no two days are ever the same in the sports and entertainment industry. Success depends on careful preparation while remaining flexible enough to respond quickly when unexpected situations arise. Her ability to balance detailed planning with adaptability allows her team to deliver smooth operations even in fast-moving environments.

One of the qualities that defines Ashton’s leadership is her commitment to her people. She believes employees perform at their highest level when they understand how their individual contributions support the organization’s larger goals. Open communication, recognition of achievements, and continuous learning are key parts of her leadership style. Rather than simply directing her team, Ashton leads by example. Whether helping during busy event days or supporting operational tasks behind the scenes, she believes that visible leadership builds trust and creates a culture where everyone works together toward shared success.

Building strong operational processes has been another major contributor to the organization’s achievements. Ashton encourages her team to regularly evaluate existing practices, use data to guide decision-making, and remain open to change whenever improvements can be made. Instead of accepting traditional methods simply because they have always worked, she believes organizations should continuously challenge themselves to become more efficient. Strong partnerships with internal teams and the Tennessee Titans organization have also helped ensure retail operations contribute to creating an exceptional fan experience throughout the stadium.

For Ashton, business performance and customer satisfaction are closely connected. Although merchandise assortments are managed through a centralized buying structure, she plays an important role in representing the voice of the customer. By sharing local sales trends, fan feedback, and purchasing patterns, she helps influence future product selections that better reflect customer demand. This approach allows retail operations to remain both commercially successful and focused on delivering value to fans.

“Innovation creates better operations, but people create lasting success.”

Technology has become one of the biggest drivers of operational improvement in Ashton’s career. She believes modern technology helps increase efficiency, improve inventory accuracy, and strengthen the overall customer experience. One of her proudest accomplishments has been leading the implementation of RFID technology at Nissan Stadium. Under her leadership, the stadium became the first NFL venue within Fanatics to successfully launch RFID technology. Working closely with Zebra Technologies, Exo, and Positive, Ashton coordinated the planning and execution of the project while ensuring a smooth transition into daily operations. The successful implementation significantly improved inventory visibility, streamlined operations, and created a model that could be replicated across other Fanatics locations.

Teamwork remains another important part of her leadership philosophy. Ashton encourages employees at every level to share ideas, ask questions, and recommend improvements. Some of the organization’s most valuable operational changes have come directly from frontline team members. By creating an environment where every voice is heard and respected, she helps employees feel more engaged and invested in the company’s success.

Ashton believes that successful General Managers share several essential qualities. Adaptability, accountability, and a strong focus on people are among the most important. Effective leaders must be confident enough to make difficult decisions while remaining open to feedback and new ideas. They must also balance financial performance with employee development and customer satisfaction. Above all, Ashton believes trust is built through consistency, honesty, and integrity.

Throughout her career, Ashton has embraced opportunities that extended beyond her daily responsibilities. Her involvement in major events such as Super Bowl LVI, the 2022 NFL Draft, the 106th Running of the Indianapolis 500, the 151st Running of the Kentucky Derby, and the 2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational exposed her to different leadership styles, operational challenges, and best practices. These experiences expanded her perspective and allowed her to bring valuable knowledge back to her own organization.

“Great leadership begins with investing in people before focusing on results.”

Looking ahead, Ashton envisions building retail operations that continue setting the benchmark for the sports and entertainment industry. Her focus remains on developing future leaders, embracing innovation, and creating memorable experiences for every fan who visits Nissan Stadium. For her, true success is measured not only by sales performance but also by the positive impact left on employees, customers, and the organization as a whole. Through continuous learning, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to people, Ashton Marcum continues to demonstrate what modern business leadership looks like in a fast-changing industry.
