Joash Lee | Founder and CEO | Sedifly
For Joash Lee, education has always been more than academic achievement. It has been a pathway to opportunity, growth, and transformation. As the Founder and CEO of Sedifly, a Singapore-based EdTech company, he has dedicated his career to helping students around the world gain access to quality admissions guidance and mentorship. His mission is rooted in personal experience, shaped by a non-traditional academic journey that taught him the importance of support, resilience, and opportunity. At EliteX, we are proud to have Joash Lee as part of the edition: The 5 Most Visionary Leaders in Education, 2026.
Joash’s journey into the education sector was driven by a deep understanding of how mentorship can change lives. Coming from a background that did not follow the traditional academic route, he learned early that talent and ambition are not always matched by equal access to opportunities. His experiences eventually led him to study at Columbia University, where he further developed his global perspective on education and leadership. Before launching Sedifly, he also played an important role in scaling products that generated more than US$20 million annually at a leading education consulting firm. These experiences gave him valuable insight into both the business and human sides of education.

True leadership in education begins with empathy and purpose
What inspired Joash most was seeing how the right guidance could completely transform a student’s confidence and future. He believes education has the power to shape life outcomes in meaningful ways. This belief became the foundation of Sedifly. Rather than creating another traditional admissions consulting company, he wanted to build a student-focused model that values potential, drive, and ambition above privilege.
As a leader in education, Joash views visionary leadership as the ability to balance innovation with empathy. In a world where technology and artificial intelligence are rapidly transforming learning environments, he believes the human side of education must never be forgotten. While digital tools can improve efficiency, personalization, and accessibility, students still need emotional support, mentorship, and genuine human connection. According to him, strong educational leadership comes from knowing how to use technology responsibly while continuing to focus on student wellbeing and growth.
Joash also believes that the current education system requires significant change. He feels that many opportunities are still shaped by financial privilege rather than genuine talent or determination. In his view, education systems must evolve to recognize diverse forms of achievement and support students from different backgrounds and pathways. Accessibility and inclusivity remain central themes in his work and leadership philosophy.
One of the most impactful initiatives under his leadership has been Sedifly’s scholarship and subsidy model. The company has worked to reduce financial barriers for families seeking high-level mentorship and admissions support. More than 95 percent of Sedifly students receive some form of financial assistance. Through these efforts, students from diverse academic and personal backgrounds have successfully gained admission into some of the world’s leading universities, including Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of Oxford, and University of Cambridge. The company’s record of helping students secure over 150 offers from top universities reflects both its commitment and impact.
Innovation also plays an important role in Joash’s approach to learning. He believes creativity grows when students are exposed to diverse ideas, industries, and experiences. Through mentorship programs, retreats, and immersive learning opportunities, Sedifly encourages students to think beyond traditional academic boundaries. Joash feels that exposure to different perspectives helps students become more ambitious, adaptable, and confident in pursuing global opportunities.
While technology continues to reshape education, Joash strongly believes it should serve as a tool to amplify impact rather than replace human interaction. He sees the future of education as a balance between scalable digital systems and meaningful mentorship. Technology can make guidance and learning more accessible across geographies, but human relationships remain essential in helping students navigate uncertainty, build confidence, and develop personally.
Technology can support learning, but mentorship shapes lives

Inclusivity remains one of his biggest priorities. Joash recognizes that many talented students around the world lack access to mentorship simply because of their location or financial situation. By building flexible pricing models, offering scholarships, and creating scalable digital systems, Sedifly aims to reach students regardless of geography or background. His work reflects a broader belief that education should not be limited to a privileged few.
As Sedifly continues to grow internationally, Joash faces the challenge of maintaining alignment between growth and values. In an increasingly commercialized education industry, he believes it is important to preserve a strong mission-driven culture. He remains focused on ensuring that the company continues to prioritize impact, authenticity, and student success above short-term gains.
Looking toward the future, Joash believes students will need more than technical knowledge to succeed. Adaptability, resilience, communication skills, and intellectual curiosity will become increasingly valuable in a rapidly changing world. He encourages young educators and aspiring leaders to focus on solving real problems rather than simply following trends. For him, meaningful leadership comes from genuine conviction and long-term purpose.

Joash continues to stay motivated by learning constantly and staying connected to the students and families Sedifly serves. Watching students from non-traditional backgrounds achieve opportunities they once thought impossible remains one of the most rewarding parts of his journey. As he looks ahead, he believes education will become more global, flexible, and personalized over the next decade, with greater focus on leadership, confidence, and emotional resilience alongside academics.
Education should unlock potential, not limit opportunity
