Leadership Starts with Trust
August 2026/EliteXPress/ – In today’s workplace, leadership is no longer about managing tasks – it’s about building trust, empowering people, and making decisions that balance growth with responsibility. With more than 15 years of experience in Fintech, payments, and e-commerce, Staņislavs Rimša, Deputy Head of Acquiring Division at WALLETTO, has spent his career leading teams, driving business transformation, and building strategic partnerships across the financial ecosystem.

We spoke with Staņislavs about his leadership philosophy, what motivates people, and why integrity remains the foundation of every successful team.
“Trust is the starting point – not something people have to earn first.”
Despite the growing acceptance of hybrid and remote work, some managers still believe that people are less productive when they work from home. Staņislavs sees it differently.
“For me, trust comes first. I trust my team from day one, whether they’re working remotely or in the office. Of course, trust becomes stronger over time through reliability, ownership, and consistent performance, but it shouldn’t be treated as a reward that employees have to earn before they can do their best work.”
Instead of measuring hours spent at a desk, he focuses on outcomes, accountability, and communication.
“What matters is whether people deliver on their commitments, communicate openly, and take responsibility for their work. If those things are in place, location becomes secondary.”
For Staņislavs, creating a culture of trust is one of the most important responsibilities of a leader because trust encourages initiative, innovation, and stronger collaboration.
Creating the right environment for motivation
Can a manager truly motivate people?
Staņislavs believes motivation is a shared responsibility.
“Employees bring their own ambition, curiosity, and desire to succeed. A manager’s role is to create an environment where those qualities can grow.”
At WALLETTO, that means setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, recognizing achievements, and supporting continuous professional development.
“I can’t motivate someone every single day on their behalf, but I can make sure they have the right conditions to stay engaged and perform at their best.”
Throughout his career, Staņislavs has built and led cross-functional teams spanning business development, operations, risk, compliance, IT, and customer support. That experience has reinforced one simple lesson: people perform best when they understand the purpose behind their work and feel trusted in making decisions.
Every team needs a different leadership style
One lesson I’ve learned throughout my career is that leadership is never one-size-fits-all.
When you’re leading a small team, you know every individual personally. You understand what motivates them, how they prefer to communicate, where they need support, and where you should challenge them to grow. That allows you to tailor your approach to each person.
As organizations grow, however, leadership becomes more about building systems than managing individuals. You may no longer speak to everyone every day, but your responsibility is to create a culture where expectations are clear, communication flows naturally, and people feel empowered to make decisions. That’s when trust, delegation, and strong team leads become essential.
I’ve had the opportunity to build and lead teams across operations, business development, payments, risk, compliance, and IT. While every team has been different, one thing has always remained the same: people perform best when they feel trusted, understand the bigger picture, and know their manager is genuinely invested in their success.
“A good manager doesn’t try to manage everyone in exactly the same way. Great leadership is about understanding people, adapting your approach, and creating an environment where every individual has the opportunity to succeed.”
