Ceres Silva | Head of North America Sales | IDEMIA Public Security
Her professional journey, which began more than two decades ago in an entry-level inside sales role, reflects the value of hard work, resilience, and a clear vision for personal growth. At EliteX, we are proud to have Ceres Silva as part of the edition: Prominent Business Leaders to Watch in 2026.
Throughout her career, Ceres has steadily progressed through leadership positions, including Regional Sales Manager, Regional Sales Director, Country Manager for Canada, and now Head of North America Sales. Every role has strengthened her understanding of leadership and prepared her for greater responsibilities. She believes that career growth is not about reaching a destination but about constantly preparing for the next opportunity through learning, experience, and dedication.
Her desire to become a leader was inspired early in her career by a successful female mentor who showed her that women could excel in the security industry, despite it being traditionally male dominated. That experience encouraged Ceres to set clear goals, continue her education, and develop the leadership skills needed to guide others. Today, she is proud to serve as a mentor herself, helping young professionals, especially women, build confidence and pursue leadership roles.
“Empowering people through trust and collaboration builds stronger teams and lasting success.”
For Ceres, leadership is not measured by job titles or authority. She believes true leadership comes from creating value, inspiring people, and making a positive impact regardless of position. She sees great leaders as individuals who work alongside their teams, listen carefully, provide guidance, and create opportunities for others to grow. Her focus is always on building strong relationships where people feel respected, supported, and motivated to perform at their best.
One of the defining moments in her career came when she was appointed Head of North America Sales after serving as Country Sales Director for Canada for only one year. The opportunity reflected the trust placed in her leadership abilities and her vision for the business. Leading experienced professionals across two countries was both a challenge and an achievement, reinforcing her belief that preparation, commitment, and consistent performance open the door to greater opportunities.
Like many women in leadership, Ceres has faced the challenge of proving herself in an industry where female representation has traditionally been limited. Instead of allowing those obstacles to discourage her, she invested in professional development, earned certifications, stayed informed about industry trends, and actively participated in industry associations. Her commitment to continuous improvement strengthened both her expertise and her confidence.
Her passion for supporting others extends well beyond her own organization. As Chair of the ASIS Women in Security Chapter in Toronto and the ASIS Women in Security Liaison for Canada, Ceres has helped create opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development. Through these volunteer leadership roles, she has contributed to increasing the visibility of women in the security industry while encouraging more professionals to believe in their own potential.
Mentorship remains one of the foundations of her leadership philosophy. She dedicates time every week to one-on-one conversations with her team members, listening to their ideas, understanding their challenges, and helping them develop practical solutions. Rather than giving orders, she encourages collaboration and shared ownership. She believes people achieve exceptional results when they feel heard, trusted, and connected to a larger purpose.

“Continuous learning and resilience create opportunities that titles alone never can.”
As technology continues to transform the business world, Ceres believes successful leaders must remain curious and adaptable. She sees artificial intelligence, automation, and digital transformation as opportunities to improve how organizations operate. At the same time, she emphasizes the importance of balancing innovation with experience. She believes that combining the fresh perspectives of younger professionals with the wisdom of seasoned leaders creates stronger and more resilient teams.
Transparency is another important part of her leadership style. During times of uncertainty, she believes employees value honest communication more than perfect answers. By sharing information openly, involving people in decision-making, and creating clear plans together, she helps teams remain focused and motivated through change.
Looking ahead, Ceres continues to focus on growth rather than predicting specific career milestones. Her goal remains the same as it was when she started her career over twenty years ago: to be ready for every new opportunity. She continues to invest in her skills, strengthen her leadership abilities, and embrace every challenge with confidence.

Beyond business success, Ceres hopes her greatest legacy will be empowering others to achieve their own goals. She wants to be remembered as a leader who built trust, created opportunities, and demonstrated that resilience, continuous learning, and genuine support for others can transform both careers and organizations. Through her example, she continues to show that leadership is not simply about reaching the top, but about helping others rise along the way.
“True leadership begins when success is measured by the growth of others.”
