Melissa Knoblock has built a career around people, problem-solving, and a deep passion for manufacturing. As a Senior Outside Sales Representative at Curbell Plastics and a Board Member with Women in Manufacturing Arizona, she has spent years helping businesses grow, overcome challenges, and embrace innovation.

Her journey into manufacturing may have started unexpectedly, but it quickly became a field where she found purpose, connection, and endless opportunities to make a difference. At EliteX, we are proud to have Melissa Knoblock as part of the edition: 2026’s Visionary Manufacturing Leaders Driving Industry 4.0.

Melissa’s introduction to manufacturing came through the staffing and workforce solutions industry. For nearly two decades, she worked closely with manufacturing and distribution companies, helping them address workforce needs and connect talented individuals with rewarding careers. During this time, she gained valuable insight into the industry and developed a strong appreciation for the people behind the products. She saw firsthand how manufacturers solve complex problems, create innovative solutions, and contribute to economic growth. The more she learned about the industry, the more she realized it was where she truly belonged.

After spending many successful years in staffing, Melissa made a significant career move by joining Curbell Plastics. Although she left the staffing industry, she knew she could not leave manufacturing behind. Her new role allowed her to remain closely connected to the sector while becoming more involved in the technical and operational side of manufacturing. Today, she works with companies across industries such as aerospace, semiconductor, medical, food and beverage, wastewater, and advanced manufacturing. Her focus is helping customers find the right material solutions, improve efficiency, strengthen supply chains, and overcome production challenges.

What motivates Melissa most is the diversity and excitement that manufacturing offers. Every day presents new opportunities to learn, collaborate, and solve problems. She enjoys visiting facilities, understanding how products are made, and working alongside customers to develop practical solutions. For her, manufacturing is not simply about machines and processes. It is about creativity, teamwork, and the people who bring ideas to life.

Throughout her career, Melissa has embraced leadership by focusing on relationships and creating opportunities for others. She believes leadership is not about authority but about connecting people, sharing resources, and helping individuals and organizations succeed. Her involvement with Women in Manufacturing Arizona has strengthened this belief and given her a platform to support industry growth while encouraging greater awareness of manufacturing careers.

Melissa views Industry 4.0 as a powerful transformation driven by technology, automation, connectivity, and data. However, she believes that technology alone is not the answer. The true value of Industry 4.0 comes from combining advanced tools with human creativity, experience, and critical thinking. While automation and digital technologies continue to reshape manufacturing, she sees people remaining at the center of innovation and decision-making.

The increasing use of artificial intelligence, automation, and the Internet of Things has created new opportunities for manufacturers to improve performance and efficiency. Melissa believes these technologies help organizations gain better visibility into their operations, predict potential issues, reduce waste, and make more informed decisions. Yet she also emphasizes that data is only one part of the equation. Successful companies combine information with real-world experience, customer relationships, and industry knowledge to achieve the best results.

Sustainability is another area that Melissa considers essential for the future of manufacturing. She believes sustainability begins with making smarter decisions early in the process. At Curbell Plastics, she works with customers to identify materials and solutions that improve durability, reliability, and operational efficiency. By reducing failures, minimizing downtime, and improving product performance, manufacturers can lower waste and use resources more responsibly. In her view, sustainability is not just about end-of-life recycling but about thoughtful decision-making throughout the entire product lifecycle.

“Curiosity is often the first step toward innovation.”

As manufacturing continues to evolve, Melissa believes maintaining quality and consistency is critical. Strong processes, reliable partnerships, and effective communication form the foundation of sustainable growth. Companies that scale successfully are those that invest in trusted relationships and build systems that support long-term success.

One of Melissa’s greatest strengths is her commitment to continuous learning. She regularly visits manufacturing facilities, attends industry events, networks with professionals, and seeks opportunities to expand her knowledge. She believes curiosity is one of the most important qualities for leaders in any industry. By staying open to new ideas and perspectives, leaders can better adapt to change and uncover innovative solutions.

Looking ahead, Melissa envisions a future where advanced technology and human innovation work together more closely than ever before. She expects continued growth in automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials. However, she remains confident that people will continue to drive progress. The manufacturers that thrive will be those that invest not only in technology but also in their workforce, creating connected teams that collaborate, innovate, and solve challenges together.

Through her dedication to manufacturing, leadership, and community engagement, Melissa Knoblock continues to inspire others while helping shape a stronger and more innovative future for the industry.

“Manufacturing succeeds when technology and people grow together.”
