Melissa Washington’s journey is a powerful example of how service, leadership, and purpose can continue long after a military career ends. Her path began at a young age when she enlisted in the United States Navy at just 18 years old. At that time, she was motivated by a desire to serve her country and experience the world beyond what she had known growing up.
Charlotte Hudson, known to many as Charlie Hudson, built a remarkable twenty-two-year career in the United States Army from 1973 to 1995. She entered the military during a time of significant change for women in uniform. She joined under a special program within the Women’s Army Corps, at a time when female service members were transitioning into broader Army roles.

Charity Michelle Schaefer’s journey is a story of resilience, transformation, and purposeful leadership. She served four years in the United States Army, including one combat tour in Afghanistan. As a Signal Support Specialist, she was responsible for maintaining communication systems that kept operations running smoothly.

Kristina Bergsten began her legal career in 2013 at a family law firm in Pennsylvania. Early on, she had the support of mentors who allowed her to explore different areas of law. When she expressed an interest in animal and environmental law, her employers encouraged her to pursue it, despite not knowing much about animal law at the time.
Carolina Gomez is a talented chef, business counselor and strategist in Washington DC. Having worked at some of the top restaurants in the city, she has made a name for herself in the culinary world. She owns Foodbizmentor.com and helps food entrepreneurs start and grow their food businesses.
