Her path into compliance was a natural extension of her legal career. As a General Counsel for a small to medium-sized company, Samantha-Anne quickly discovered that legal responsibilities and compliance obligations are closely connected. Managing legal matters often required ensuring that the company followed all applicable laws and regulations. As a result, she gradually took on both legal and compliance responsibilities, allowing her to build expertise in how these two areas interact across every part of a business.
In compliance, adaptability is the key to navigating constant change.
Today, Samantha-Anne plays a critical leadership role at Primary Arms, where she oversees Legal, Compliance, and Human Resources. Her daily responsibilities are dynamic and constantly evolving. Each day presents a new set of priorities that range from supporting revenue-generating activities to ensuring regulatory compliance and managing talent within the organization. She works closely with leadership teams while also providing direct guidance to the teams she leads. This balance requires strategic thinking, clear communication, and a hands-on leadership style that keeps both people and processes aligned with the company’s goals.
Although she originally envisioned a career focused solely on becoming a General Counsel, Samantha-Anne found the field of compliance both challenging and rewarding. Ensuring that a company operates within the law is a fundamental part of any legal role, and overseeing compliance allows her to actively shape how organizations manage risk and responsibility. The constant interaction between business operations and regulatory frameworks keeps her work engaging and intellectually stimulating.
In her view, the most important responsibility of a compliance leader is not simply knowing every rule or regulation. While legal knowledge is important, she believes that understanding the business itself is even more critical. Compliance professionals must know how their organization operates, how decisions are made, and how processes function across departments. Without that understanding, it becomes difficult to properly identify risks or apply regulatory requirements effectively. For Samantha-Anne, compliance begins with a deep understanding of the business and the people who drive it.
Beyond her corporate role, Samantha-Anne has also demonstrated a strong commitment to professional service and community impact. One of her proudest achievements was serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Houston Young Lawyers Foundation. During her time in this leadership position, she helped guide fellow legal professionals in efforts to support and strengthen their local community.

Under her leadership, the foundation raised and distributed nearly one hundred thousand dollars in charitable grants. This accomplishment reflects her belief that professionals who hold positions of influence should also use their platforms to support meaningful causes.
Keeping up with constantly changing regulations is one of the ongoing challenges of working in compliance. Samantha-Anne approaches this responsibility through collaboration and continuous learning. She works with a strong compliance team that monitors regulatory developments and industry standards. Together they use technology, consult external experts, and conduct detailed research to ensure the organization remains up to date. Once changes are identified, the focus quickly shifts to implementing them effectively and communicating those updates clearly across the company.
Success in compliance, according to Samantha-Anne, requires flexibility and adaptability. Regulations, policies, and business environments change frequently, and compliance professionals must be ready to respond quickly. Sometimes these changes happen with very little warning, requiring rapid adjustments across an entire organization. Professionals in this field must therefore remain open to change and prepared to guide their teams through complex transitions.

Strong values create the foundation for ethical decisions across an organization.
Creating an ethical culture inside an organization is another priority she strongly believes in. Samantha-Anne emphasizes that values and mission should guide behavior throughout the company. When an organization clearly defines its values and leaders actively live by them, ethical decision-making becomes a natural part of everyday work. Employees understand expectations, accountability becomes clear, and compliance becomes embedded within the company culture.
When balancing risk management with business growth, Samantha-Anne always returns to the core purpose of the business. Every decision must be evaluated against the potential compliance risk it may create. If a particular action could threaten the company’s ability to operate legally or move it too close to non-compliance, then the risk is simply too great. Protecting the organization’s ability to continue doing business always remains the highest priority.
Looking toward the future, Samantha-Anne believes the only certainty in compliance is constant change. Regulations will continue to evolve, industries will shift, and organizations must stay prepared to adapt. Rather than focusing on one specific trend, she views adaptability itself as the defining feature of the profession.
Managing the demands of such a dynamic career requires strong organization and discipline. Samantha-Anne prefers to think of work and personal life not as something that must be perfectly balanced, but as something that must be integrated. She relies heavily on careful planning, detailed scheduling, and thoughtful preparation to manage her many responsibilities. From maintaining an integrated calendar to preparing daily priorities in advance, she believes that effective planning allows professionals to stay productive while still making room for personal priorities.
Compliance starts with understanding how the business truly operates.
