Lynda Clarke – Leading with Purpose in Payments and Fintech

Lynda Clarke, Nayax

Lynda Clarke is a seasoned financial services leader with more than two decades of experience in the payments industry. As General Manager of Nayax UK, she leads the company’s growth and market strategy in one of the most dynamic fintech environments in Europe.

Her journey into finance began at Barclaycard, where she gained her first real exposure to payments and financial services. It was there that she developed a strong foundation in how financial systems support everyday business and consumer activity. At EliteX, we are proud to have Lynda Clarke as part of the edition: Impactful Women in Finance, 2026.

From Barclaycard, she moved into senior roles at Elavon and Network International. These experiences shaped her understanding of the complexity and pace of the payments ecosystem. She worked closely with both product and commercial teams, learning how innovation, customer demand, and regulatory frameworks must align for sustainable success. At Elavon, she focused on commercialising value-added services, helping to double that revenue stream over a three-year period. At Network International, she contributed to the company’s IPO journey while supporting the expansion of the acquiring business and helping launch the Middle East’s first acquirer-owned Android POS application.

Her next major chapter was at Tribe Payments, where she served as Chief Operating Officer. During a significant scale-up phase, transaction volumes increased by more than 370 percent and revenue grew 75 percent year on year. For Lynda, growth was never just about numbers. It was about building systems, culture, and leadership structures that could support long-term success.

Growth must be sustainable, with the right culture and structure in place

She believes that rapid expansion without strong foundations creates long-term risk. At Tribe Payments, she focused on ensuring that teams remained aligned, supported, and empowered even as complexity increased.

Since August 2025, Lynda has been leading the UK market for Nayax, a global fintech specializing in unattended payments, telemetry, and consumer engagement solutions. Nearly six months into the role, she describes the experience as fast paced, challenging, and energising. As General Manager UK, she holds full responsibility for growth, performance, partnerships, and customer success. Her work involves strengthening strategic relationships, building a high-performing local team, and ensuring that innovation remains practical and relevant for operators.

Customer-centric leadership creates real and measurable value

For Lynda, innovation is not about technology alone. At Nayax, innovation means bringing payments, data, and insights into one connected ecosystem. This allows operators to improve efficiency, gain better visibility over their businesses, and deliver stronger consumer experiences in unattended environments such as vending, parking, and self-service retail. She ensures that her teams stay close to the market so that products and services directly respond to operator needs.

What originally drew her to finance was its central role in how the world functions. Payments sit at the heart of commerce. Fintech allows her to solve practical problems that impact businesses every day. Today, however, it is leadership and people development that motivate her most. She takes pride in building inclusive environments where individuals feel safe to contribute ideas and take ownership of their work.

As a woman in finance, Lynda has often worked in male-dominated environments. While that presented challenges, it also strengthened her resilience and clarity. She learned early that preparation, consistency, and confidence are essential for being heard. These experiences shaped her leadership philosophy, which centres on inclusion and respect for diverse viewpoints.

Inclusive leadership drives stronger commercial outcomes

She believes performance and ethics are not competing priorities. Responsible leadership enables long-term, high-quality results. During times of uncertainty, she is guided by clarity, honesty, and empathy. She understands that teams do not expect leaders to have every answer, but they do expect transparency and consistency.

Beyond her executive responsibilities, Lynda actively mentors and supports other women in finance. She creates space for open conversations, advocates when it matters, and supports women returning to work or preparing for new leadership roles. She views allyship as consistent action rather than symbolic gestures.

Looking ahead, she believes future finance leaders will need adaptability, emotional intelligence, and curiosity. The industry is evolving rapidly due to digital transformation, regulatory shifts, and customer expectations. Leaders must remain open to learning and comfortable with change while bringing their teams with them.

One of the most important lessons she has learned is that progress rarely comes from a single defining moment. It is built through steady effort and disciplined execution over time. Sustainable success requires focus and resilience.

As she moves into 2026 and beyond, her priorities are clear. She aims to grow Nayax’s UK presence, strengthen resilient teams, and continue leading in a way that balances inclusion with execution. Her message to young women entering finance is simple but powerful – believe that you belong, stay curious, and have the courage to step forward even when you feel uncertain.

Through her leadership, Lynda Clarke continues to demonstrate that strong culture, ethical clarity, and commercial ambition can work together to shape the future of fintech.
