Fiona Campbell Arrand – Building Trust in Leadership and Business Growth

Fiona Campbell

Fiona Campbell Arrand is an author, speaker, leadership development facilitator, business coach and NLP trainer who has spent more than three decades helping people think more clearly, communicate more effectively and lead with trust. She is the author of Working with Trust and the founder of the NLP Business Circle Club Community. Through her company, The Professional Growth Company, she works with organisations, leaders and coaches to build clarity, confidence and strong professional relationships that stand the test of change and pressure.

At EliteX, we are proud to have Fiona Campbell Arrand as part of the edition: 10 Elite Women in Business, 2026.

Her career began in international sales, where she quickly saw how leadership style, language and behaviour directly influenced results. She experienced first-hand what it felt like to be led by individuals who were unaware of the impact they were having on others. Poor communication, unclear expectations and reactive leadership created unnecessary stress and reduced performance. Instead of becoming discouraged, Fiona became curious. She wanted to understand why capable people sometimes led badly and how communication could be improved to create better outcomes.

Confidence grows through experience, not comparison.

This curiosity led her to study human behaviour in depth. She trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and later specialised in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and coaching. Since 1990, she has worked with NLP in business and coaching contexts, combining commercial experience with behavioural insight. Her background allows her to connect strategic goals with a deep understanding of how people think, respond and change. She does not approach leadership as a theory. She approaches it as something practical, observable and measurable in everyday interactions.

One of the most defining milestones in her career was writing Working with Trust. The book brings together decades of experience from high-pressure sales environments, advanced behavioural training and coaching practice. It offers practical frameworks for leaders who want to build trust deliberately rather than leaving it to chance. For Fiona, trust is not a soft concept. It is a strategic advantage that affects decision-making, performance and culture. Writing the book allowed her to consolidate her thinking and offer leaders a clear structure for improving how they lead.

Another important milestone was launching the NLP Business Circle Club Community in 2021. She recognised that one-off training sessions were not enough to create sustainable growth. Professionals needed ongoing learning, structured thinking time and a supportive environment where they could apply concepts consistently. The community was designed as a space for long-term professional development, where business owners, coaches and leaders could deepen their skills and strengthen their confidence over time.

Her journey has not been without significant challenges. Building and reinventing a business requires resilience, especially during periods of personal change. One of the most difficult times in her life was supporting her late husband, Duncan Arrand, through two years of serious illness while continuing her professional work. During that period, she experienced the tension of balancing responsibility, grief and leadership. Duncan consistently encouraged her to continue contributing and to stay focused on the difference she was making. That experience strengthened her belief that resilience is not about constant positivity. It is about clarity, perspective and steady action. She learned that doing meaningful work can also be deeply healing.

Resilience comes from clarity and steady action, not panic.

The skills that have supported her success are rooted in communication and emotional awareness. Fiona has a strong ability to simplify complexity. She listens carefully, asks precise questions and helps people organise their thinking. Her natural curiosity about how people feel, decide and respond allows her to connect with individuals across different industries and roles. Rather than imposing solutions, she helps others gain clarity so they can act with confidence.

When facing difficult periods, she does not rely on motivation alone. She focuses on purpose. She structures her thinking, identifies what truly matters and takes deliberate steps forward. She believes consistency and clarity are more powerful than bursts of energy. This steady approach enables her to maintain direction even when circumstances are uncertain.

Her leadership style is calm, grounded and human. She values professionalism but also brings warmth and humour into her work. She believes people are capable of far more than they often recognise in themselves. By building trust and encouraging responsibility, she helps individuals step into their potential. She sees leadership as a shared responsibility where clarity of intention and respectful communication create stronger results.

Maintaining balance between work and personal life is something she approaches intentionally. She recognises that balance shifts over time. Exercise, sauna sessions and massage help her maintain physical and mental clarity. Creating space to slow down and reflect is equally important. Time with family and friends provides connection and enjoyment, reminding her that leadership is not separate from life but part of a broader human experience.

For young women aspiring to become business leaders, Fiona emphasises the importance of self-belief and strong communication skills. She encourages them to stop comparing themselves to others and to trust their judgement. Waiting to feel fully confident can delay growth. Confidence develops through action and experience. Leadership is not about fitting into a predefined model. It is about earning trust and helping people understand clearly what they are working towards together.

The person who has inspired her most is her late husband, Duncan Arrand. He led with integrity, humour and a deep commitment to trust. Observing how he built relationships and maintained focus under pressure shaped Fiona’s understanding of values-based leadership. His example continues to influence how she works and how she makes decisions.

Trust is not a soft skill – it is a strategic leadership advantage.

Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, she sees artificial intelligence accelerating change across industries. However, she is clear that AI is a data tool. It does not replace human judgement, emotional intelligence or the ability to build relationships. Meta skills such as self-awareness, adaptability and critical thinking will become even more important. Organisations that invest in leaders who can communicate clearly and build trust during change will be better positioned to succeed.

Innovation within her communities is encouraged by creating psychological safety. When individuals feel respected and heard, they are more willing to share ideas, question assumptions and take responsibility. Trust is the foundation that allows creativity to develop without fear.

Her core business values are trust, integrity, clarity and respect. Every decision is evaluated through this lens. If a choice weakens trust, even if it offers short-term gain, it is not sustainable. She believes long-term success is built on consistent behaviour and transparent communication.

Her future projects reflect her commitment to structured growth. The Professional Growth Community is being launched as a free online space for leaders, coaches and business professionals who want focused learning away from social media distractions. She is also writing Working with NLP, with Working with Coaches planned for 2027. Each project builds on her central theme that trust, clarity and behavioural insight are essential leadership skills.

Fiona Campbell Arrand believes leaders cannot control global uncertainty or rapid change, but they can control how they behave and how they treat others. When trust is present, people think more clearly, communicate more honestly and take greater responsibility. In times of disruption, trust does not remove chaos, but it changes how individuals operate within it. For her, developing trust is not optional. It is a serious and strategic leadership capability that shapes sustainable success.
